The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is one of Australia’s leading research and teaching universities, with strong industry links and global engagement. A UNSW research team has developed advanced tactile sensing robotic technology with potential applications ranging from fruit picking to surgery.
gemaker conducted interviews with the lead inventor and a key researcher, completed preliminary market research and provided advice on IP strategy and funding strategy. gemaker assisted in development of a pitch for UNSW to present to Main Sequence Ventures, who manage the CSIRO Innovation Fund and invest in the translation of research into global-scale businesses.
The pitch was delivered successfully to investors who asked for a follow-up meeting. gemaker recommended that UNSW identifies and engages with relevant industries to find potential partners with whom they could develop the technology to meet their specific needs.
