Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia (KCA) is the peak body for technology transfer organisations and individuals.
Service: Research, writing, graphic design and PR for a nationally significant report
gemaker was engaged by KCA to conduct the inaugural Survey of Commercialisation Outcomes from Public Research (SCOPR), designed to enable national and international benchmarking of respondents and inform decisions by research organisations, government and industry stakeholders seeking to enhance research commercialisation.
SCOPR is overseen by a committee representing KCA, the Group of Eight (Go8), the Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes and KiwiNet. It has replaced the National Survey of Research Commercialisation produced from 2000-2016 by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. The inaugural SCOPR covered the calendar years 2017, 2018 and 2019.
In collaboration with the SCOPR Committee, gemaker designed and distributed the survey, and collected and analysed data from forty-nine Australian and New Zealand universities, medical research institutes and publicly funded research agencies. gemaker presented the findings in a comprehensive report, including customised infographics and case studies of commercialisation success from several survey respondents.
The gemaker team also managed media liaison regarding SCOPR and the case studies, which resulted in national coverage via Channel Nine News, The Australian and The Age.
