James Dalton – Commercialisation Manager
With an engineering background, James combines strategic marketing mastery and product development expertise, derived from decades of experience with leading global companies, particularly Cochlear.
James will help gemaker’s clients realise the commercial value of their technical capabilities and innovations, by securing development funding and targeting a customer base on which to build, especially in medical markets. Being well-connected with multiple research organisations and universities in several countries, as well as having extensive industry networks, he will greatly enhance the industry engagement capabilities of researchers.
Starting in 1999, James fulfilled various roles for Cochlear – the global expert in implantable hearing solutions – including Principal Engineer, Senior Surgical Specialist, Senior Product Marketing Manager, and Product Manager Implants and Professional Engagement.
In the latter role, he managed the lifecycle of the Cochlear implant product line, developing strategy to maximise the value of the company’s professional relationships throughout the Asia-Pacific region. James identified and connected with hundreds of potential Cochlear customers and collaborators, to demonstrate the applications and benefits of Cochlear products by diverse means including symposiums and study tours, in locations including China and the US.
James first applied his engineering skills for Bradken Ltd – an international manufacturer of innovative products for the mining, transport, manufacturing and primary industries. He was subsequently responsible for product research and development for Westinghouse Brakes Australia.
James is on the Board of the Australian Railway Historical Society (NSW).
